Suffering Anxiety attacks?

I have been having anxiety attacks now since this spring. Am on my 3rd medication to help with them as they tried Zanax, Efexor and Lexapro. When on the Lexapro, I was so depressed & even suicidal, which I hadn’t had since I was a teen, so insisted the doctor put me back on the Efexor. I have been reading a lot of books lately from the library, and they have a lot of herbal remedies to try for anxiety, but I’m wondering if anyone else has tried these with success as I just ordered Valerian root, vitamin B complex, and St Johns Wort. Has anyone else tried these for anxiety attacks? I also have been put on a beta blocker now as well as since the doctor put me on the anti-depressants, my blood pressure has been very high & heart rate very high at a resting point also. I’d really LOVE to be able to get off all these meds and take herbal instead….

I think you might also want to consider therapy to try to find the "source" of the anxiety. Good luck!

I did try the herbal remedies but never long enough to see if they worked. The one thing I have found for my anxiety disorder is birth control. Even though my doctors refuse to admit its possible while on Depo I have drastically reduced anxiety and within a week of going off I slide back down hill. I agree with you that Lexapro is a terrible drug. Also don’t go on Topamax. They gave me that for anxiety and I lost some of my language ability as have others I have talked to. Good luck!

Have you heard of EEG biofeedback also known as neurofeedback for anxiety? This is a safe, alternative treatment for anxiety and panic attacks. There is a lot of information on the web. Do some research using keywords "neurofeedback and anxiety". You will need to find a certified neurofeedback therapist in your area but the results are incredible. Click on my website below to learn more. There are no drugs involved, and no side effects.
