I have a panic/anxiety disorder..?
I have always had issues with anxiety but ever since a guy broke into my apartment at 4AM things have gotten worse - this happened about a year ago. I understand what my body is going through. There are days I can’t go to work because the panic attacks are so bad at times. I refuse meds due to bad side effects that have left me scarred for life and I try to treat with herbal medication, meditation, and filling my life with positives but the attacks still happen. I guess what Im really asking is if anyone else has had the same experiences and wouldn’t mind exchanging emails to talk.? It would just be comforting to know that at least someone (even if they never met me!) understands what its like to go through this on a daily basis…
The same guy saying its all in my head is also the guy blocking his email to protect his privacy… scumbag
Panic attacks are alot more common, that most people would even admit.
You are one step closer to beating them as you are reaching out for help
I know many people who suffer from Panic Attacks, and manage to chase away the very real fear that is going on inside them, by slowly facing the object ( in your case…it was due to your apartment, being broken into)
There are groups all around the country for people who are suffering from this very real disorder.
Open and honest dialogue helps you heal faster.
I do understand how terrifying an attack can be, a family member, several years ago, suffered daily. Suddenly she faced the fear, head-on repeatedly until she could see that the odds were in her favor that such a thing could or would happen again.
Have your superintendant change the locks, also tell him/her, that you are going to have a chain bolt on your door…the type that you must use a special key to open from the outside…it has when the door is open just enough room for you to see who is at your door.
This lock is far from expensive but worth millions in knowing that you are coming home to your apartment, guaranteed that no-one has been in your home.
Also, once you slide the chain on for the night, you definetley can sleep the sleep of an innocent child.
No key …no entrance.
If it is installed right( anyone with a drill can do it) I can guarantee that in order to get into your home , the one who wants in is going to have to be exceedingly strong.
I had my son try to break it open…he loved the challenge. He is 6ft 3inches and weighs almost 260 pounds of solid muscle..all he did was rattle the chain a bit.
He told me that the only way in was with bolt cutters on the chain or literally breaking down the door.
Now what kind of nut-bar would alert the whole building, notifying everyone that he was trying to get into someone’s apartment. Both options for a burgler would wake someone for sure on your floor, of your apartment building.
You do have ,many many options, group sessions, one on one counscelling, adding that amazing extra door lock …the one with a key.
If you do get this one..make sure it is placed at a comfortable height for your size, so you just insert your key, turn it and magic you are home safe and sound.
Keep in mind, you do need to give your superintedent, one of the keys( in case of fire, flood or some other kind of disaster IE; in case you need an ambulance) Personally in all apartment buildings, I have lived in, I always ask the superintendant ( after I bought the lock and show it to him/her as we are speaking)if I could put this on my door for extra saftey and why.
Once you feel safe…that won’t take long knowing that you are back in control of things…the panic attacks will disapate.
All of the family members, I have, that live in apartments, or alone, have the same type of lock.
Don’t forget to find someone ( even your Minister) that you are comfortable with, to help talk this out.Keep on searching until you do find a person who is trustworthy and caring enough to listen and ask you open-ended questions to help you face your fears.
Good luck to you.

Many friends who are police personel.
Personal experience…my life became my own from that little lock.
Several friends who had similar experiences, ending with security locks and talking to good friends about the attempted break-in…before thier locks were installed.

Hello! I completely understand where you are coming from! I’ve had panic/anixety for 13 years now. It sounds like you have some post traumatic stress disorder going on top of your anxiety! Have you considered therapy along with the herbal medication and meditation? I take medication and also go to therapy. Therapy has been a tremendous help for me. I would LOVE to correspond with someone exchanging e-mails, etc because I have no friends or anyone close to me that goes through the same thing and I know how much it helps to have someone that UNDERSTANDS. I hope to hear back from you and if not I hope you feel better really sooN!!
